WorkCompReady™ Certification
WorkCompReady™ Certification
-
WorkCompReady™ Certification is a non-clinical training program for physicians, physician assistants, and office staff.
It does not evaluate or change how a doctor practices medicine. Instead, it focuses on the administrative side of workers’ compensation, ensuring the entire office understands how to manage a case from intake through discharge without delays caused by paperwork, missed timelines, or lack of communication.
-
OM Marketing developed the WorkCompReady™ Certification in 2010 after identifying a consistent gap across the industry.
The issue was not the quality of medical care. The issue was the lack of understanding of the administrative and procedural requirements that are specific to workers’ compensation.
Employers, carriers, and case managers needed physicians who not only deliver strong clinical outcomes, but also understand how to properly manage documentation, timelines, and communication so care is not delayed.
The certification was created to address that gap and establish a clear standard for what it means to be prepared to treat injured workers within the workers’ compensation system.
-
In workers’ compensation, medical care and the process around that care must work together. Employers, adjusters, and nurse case managers are responsible for coordinating care, but the treating physician plays the most critical role.
The doctor’s ability to deliver appropriate treatment, communicate clearly, and meet documentation requirements directly affects how quickly a patient receives care, progresses through treatment, and returns to work safely.
A doctor may provide excellent clinical care, but if reports are delayed, forms are incomplete, or communication is inconsistent, the entire process slows down. This can delay approvals, interrupt treatment, and impact outcomes.
-
The certification provides practical, process-driven training that aligns the medical office with how workers’ compensation cases are managed.
This includes:
Accurate and Timely Documentation
Completing and submitting required forms such as work status reports, visit notes, and state-specific documents like the DWC-25 correctly and within required timeframes.Understanding Reporting Requirements
Knowing when documentation is due, what must be included, and how delays can impact treatment approvals and claim progression.Consistent Communication
Providing clear, timely updates to adjusters, nurse case managers, and employers so all parties have the information needed to make decisions.Care Coordination
Supporting the flow of care by ensuring referrals, follow-ups, and next steps are communicated and documented properly.Office Workflow and Accountability
Ensuring that front desk staff, coordinators, and providers are aligned and following a consistent process so nothing is missed.
-
A WorkCompReady™ Certified doctor is a physician who delivers appropriate medical care while also ensuring the administrative side of the case is handled correctly.
It means:
Patients are seen in a timely manner and treatment is not delayed due to administrative issues
Documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted on time
Communication with all parties is clear and consistent
Care is coordinated in a way that supports steady progress and avoids unnecessary interruptions
The focus remains on helping the patient recover and return to work safely
These doctors understand that strong outcomes depend not only on treatment, but also on how efficiently the process is managed around that treatment.
-
The WorkCompReady™ Certification is widely recognized by employers, carriers, TPAs, and nurse case managers as a standard for administrative readiness in workers’ compensation.
It was developed with input from industry professionals who manage claims daily and understand where breakdowns occur.
Because of this, certified providers are often viewed as reliable partners in helping cases move forward without avoidable delays.
-
To maintain the integrity of the certification, all providers are required to complete a refresher course every two years.
This ensures that physicians and their teams stay current with:
Changes in workers’ compensation regulations
Updated documentation requirements
Evolving best practices for managing cases
This ongoing requirement helps maintain a consistent standard across all certified providers.
-
The goal is to ensure that patients receive timely, appropriate care without unnecessary delays caused by administrative breakdowns.
When documentation is accurate, communication is consistent, and processes are followed correctly, care moves forward as it should.
At every step, the focus remains on the patient, supporting recovery, improving outcomes, and helping individuals return to work safely and efficiently, regardless of the payor.
