OM Establishes the Nation’s First Center of Excellence Designation for the Care of Injured Workers
OM is proud to announce the launch of the Center of Excellence Designation, the nation’s first formal designation established exclusively for medical practices and service providers committed to delivering the highest standard of quality and well-coordinated care for injured workers.
The Center of Excellence Designation establishes a new national benchmark for excellence in the care of injured workers. For the first time, medical practices and service providers can be formally recognized for meeting established standards that extend beyond clinical care to include the administrative, operational, and care coordination processes essential to delivering high-quality care for injured workers.
Developed in partnership with employers and experienced workers’ compensation professionals, the Center of Excellence Designation recognizes organizations that have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in the care of injured workers. The standards address areas such as timely access to care, effective communication, accurate and timely documentation, coordinated care, and the administrative and operational processes that support injured workers and the professionals involved throughout their care.
The designation does not evaluate, direct, or influence medical decision-making. All clinical decisions remain solely with the treating physician. Instead, it recognizes organizations that have established the systems, processes, and accountability necessary to consistently support the delivery of high-quality, well-coordinated care while maintaining complete clinical independence.
Earning the Center of Excellence Designation requires a comprehensive review. Medical practices and service providers must meet established eligibility requirements, complete the application process, and successfully undergo an independent evaluation conducted by the Center of Excellence Oversight Committee, composed of employers, adjusters, nurse case managers, and other experienced workers’ compensation professionals. Although OM developed and administers the program, designation decisions are made independently by the Oversight Committee.
OM is proud to recognize the inaugural recipients of the Center of Excellence Designation for the Care of Injured Workers:
- Orthopaedic Center of South Florida
- The Orthopedic Clinic
- OrthoMiami
- Miami Institute for Joint Reconstruction
- 360 Orthopedics
These organizations are the first medical practices in the nation to successfully complete the required review process and meet the established standards of the program. Their recognition reflects more than the care provided in the exam room. It recognizes the people, systems, communication, coordination, and operational processes that contribute to the overall experience and support the care of injured workers.
Congratulations to Orthopaedic Center of South Florida, The Orthopedic Clinic, OrthoMiami, Miami Institute for Joint Reconstruction, and 360 Orthopedics, along with their physicians, leadership teams, workers’ compensation coordinators, and staff whose commitment to excellence made this achievement possible.
With its inaugural designees now recognized, the Center of Excellence Designation establishes a formal national standard for organizations committed to excellence in the care of injured workers. As additional organizations successfully complete the independent review process and earn the designation, the official list of current Center of Excellence designees will continue to be updated.
